Triathlon BC recognizes athletes who achieve a high level of
excellence in Provincial Championship events. This formal
recognition includes team uniforms, and in some cases, funding assistance
to National Championship events.
All Provincial Team athletes must be current Triathlon BC members in good standing PRIOR to the listed
qualifying events. Athletes taking part in selection events as day members will not be considered for the BC Team.
All athletes must have resided in BC for the previous 6 months leading to a selection event.
Elite and Junior Elite athletes must provide a photocopy of BC medical card as proof of residency when applying for a Triathlon BC Elite or Junior Elite card.
Elite athletes (Junior/U23/Senior) receiving Triathlon Canada carding support will be ineligible for Team BC
selection in the year that they are receiving carding support.
U23 athletes are 18 to 23 years of age as of December 31, 2010, and must hold a Triathlon BC Elite or Junior Elite card.
Junior Elite athletes are 16-19 years old as of December 31, 2010, and must hold a Triathlon BC Junior Elite card.
Age of each athlete is determined as of December 31st, 2010
Due to reduced sport funding, Triathlon BC will NOT reimburse Elite or Age Group athletes race entry fees.
Eligible athletes will be notified following the respective qualifying events, once official results have been received by the BC Team Selection Committee
All qualifying athletes who live in the Lower Mainland region are expected to attend the Triathlon BC AGM.
NOTE 1: The Triathlon BC Board of Directors has passed a policy limiting BC Team members to one uniform only (i.e., an athlete who qualifies for both the Short Course and Long Distance BC Teams will receive only one uniform)
NOTE 2: BC Team selection is limited to Short Course (Olympic Distance) and Long Distance competition. As outlined under Triathlon Canada age/distance requirements, Junior Elite selection must use Sprint distance selection events.
