Get ready for the Spirit Triathlon! 

Event Day: Sunday, June 9, 2024
Time: 8AM-3PM
Duration: Each school’s race is 30-60 min.
Event Location: Hyde Creek Recreation Centre 1379 Laurier Ave, Port Coquitlam
Ages: Students in Grades 2 – 5

Hey there, future triathletes! Are you ready to dive into the excitement of the Spirit Triathlon? Our goal is simple: to inspire and unite elementary school students towards the finish line in a fun and encouraging race. And guess what? You don’t need to be a super athlete to join in on the fun!

Whether you’re an individual competitor or joining forces with classmates on a relay team, this event is for YOU. Students of all abilities can participate. Relay teams offer a fantastic opportunity for non-athlete students to join in safely. Each teammate tackles a leg of the triathlon: swim, bike, or run. It’s a fun way to try something new, support your school, and cheer on your friends! Participants cross the finish line with pride and confidence. 

Individual or Relay Team: Students have two awesome options. You can conquer all three sports—swim, bike, and run—or team up and take on one or two legs of the triathlon. Mix and match with students from different grades to create your ultimate dream team! I.e. If you haven’t formed a relay team, don’t worry. Your school triathlon coordinators will put you on a relay team. Note: Relay Teams are only for schools listed under School Registration. 

Distances: Every grade will tackle the same challenge: 100m swim, 3.2km bike, and a 1km run. 

Orientation: Wondering about the bike and run routes? We’ve got you covered! Join us for an on-site orientation where we’ll go over everything you need to know. Plus, there’ll be a race route practice to ensure you’re ready to bike and run on race day. Dates TBD for April and May. 

Cost: As we mark the 2nd annual Spirit Triathlon, registration fees are set at $40 for individual events and $35 for relay participants. Each participant who regsitered by May 1st will receive a race shirt. If you require financial assistance, please reach out to your school’s triathlon coordinator—we’re here to ensure everyone can join in on this exciting event!
