NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Triathlon BC members are invited to attend the Association’s 36th Annual General Meeting, being held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
The Triathlon BC Annual General Meeting (AGM) is open to all members in good standing. The AGM provides an opportunity to review the year, present the audited Financial Statements and provide an opportunity to elect Directors as per the Triathlon BC bylaws.
To ensure maximum engagement from members across the province, the 2024 Annual General Meeting will be hosted online through a livestream using Zoom technology.
In order to participate and vote in the 2024 AGM and Board of Directors elections, Triathlon BC bylaws state that individuals must be current, 2024 annual members, a minimum of 30 days prior to the AGM date; on or before the end of the business day, September 13th, 2024.
Allowing for participation across the province, Board elections will be held online using a secure voting platform. Voting will be open for 7 days, from 12:00pm, Wednesday, October 4th through to 12:00pm, Wednesday, October 10th, 2024.
Note: While we encourage participation by everyone, members are not required to attend the AGM in order to vote in the 2024 Board of Director elections.

CALL FOR BOARD OF DIRECTOR
As the provincial governing body, Triathlon BC is dedicated to the growth, development and promotion of triathlon and multisport for all athletes, regardless of skill or age. We rely on passionate volunteers to maintain our position as leaders in sport development.
The Board of Directors are volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds who are elected for two-year terms to manage the affairs of the Board in accordance with the bylaws of Triathlon BC.
In 2024, Triathlon BC is looking for dedicated individuals to fill a total of 5 positions; three (3) Director at Large positions and two (2) Executive position (Treasurer and Secretary). Due to the intricate finances of the Association, a professional accounting designation is required for the Treasurer’s position.
To ensure that the Board is composed of qualified and skilled individuals capable of, and committed to, providing effective stewardship of the sport, Triathlon BC seeks individuals that are free of conflict of interest.
We are seeking nominees who:
- Are innovative, creative, and can offer new perspectives
- Ideally possess skills in Human Resources, Legal, Finance/Accounting, Risk Management Marketing/Communications or Governance
- Are strong advocates for the value and benefits of multisport from recreational through to elite performance; and
- Can contribute and help shape the future of multisport in BC
Demonstration of the following attributes would be advantageous:
- Visionary – able to see Triathlon BC in broad terms as part of the sport sector and visualize its future;
- Strategic – able to contribute to the development and execution of Triathlon BC’s strategic plan;
- Communication skills – ability to share ideas and influence others in a respectful manner;
- Commitment to continuous learning and personal development;
- Clear understanding of the role of governance vs operational aspects of the organization; and,
- Previous board-related or committee-based experience.
Nominees must meet all criteria as outlined in the bylaws of Triathlon BC and the Societies Act of BC, including:
- Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
- Be a current Member of the Society;
- Have the power under law to contract;
- Have not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country;
- Not be an undischarged bankrupt; and
- Not been convicted of an offense in connection with the promotion, formation or management of a corporation or unincorporated entity, or of an offense involving fraud.
