Triathlon BC is excited to partner with 94 Forward to provide three performance pathway triathlon camps in Victoria over the 2024-2025 season. These camps are intended to have a “flow” that matches the season priorities, and priority of registration will be given to those athletes planning to attend all three camps.

The target athletes for these camps are 16+ yrs old within the draft-legal racing high performance pathway, such as youth (of provincial games level) transitioning into Provincial Junior racing through to Jr’s and U23’s targeting North American racing at the USAT or Conti Cup level.

These training camps are held on “short” school weeks to minimize the impact on school attendance:

The first camp, Nov 11-17, 2024: Focused on setting your season up for success. At this camp training athletes will establish benchmarks across swim/bike/run and S&C, and receive a general physiological profile to help determine effective training zones. Athletes will also learn from experts in Nutrition, Mental Performance and Recovery through classroom learning sessions.

The second camp, Feb 17-23, 2025: Focused on a significant block of milage to help set up athlete’s return to outdoor training. In most parts of Canada winter means training indoors, while this can be true in Victoria as well, athlete’s do have the opportunity to bike and run outside almost all year. The camp is mostly focused on getting in aerobic development work.

The third camp, May 20-25, 2025: Following one of Canada’s earliest outdoor triathlon, the North Shore Triathlon in Vancouver. Athletes that compete at the North Shore will transfer over to Victoria after the race and begin the camp the following day. The purpose of this camp will be to sharpen up racing skills for the peak of race season. At this camp there will be sessions focused on racing tactics, strategies and race practice.

Through the generous support of 94 Forward, the 1994 Victoria Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, these camps will be heavily subsidized and cost $300/camp/athlete. This cost will cover all training venues, coaching, accommodations, assessments, seminars and ground transportation. Travel to and from will be the responsibility of the athletes.
