Triathlon BC is excited to offer a free four part webinar series in April to the triathlon community. The focus is on skills, tactics, and knowledge for new and novice triathletes, but all ages and abilities are welcome. Topics will include race preparation, open water swim skills, race tactics, race nutrition, training nutrition for busy lifestyles, strength training, injury prevention, and mental performance. We will have four amazing speakers, who have a wealth of race experience along with professional knowledge.
This webinar series will vary between Wednesday and Tuesday evenings, 6-715PM. Each webinar will include 30-45min of presentation time from the speaker, and 30mins of Q&A at the end.
Wednesday April 5th 6:00 – 7:15PM: Ellen Pennock
Triathlon Skills & Tactics
– Ellen has a wealth of international World Cup race experience, including a U23 World Championship silver medal, and is an NCCP Comp-Dev Certified Coach. She will lead a discussion around the skills and tactics on event day: from morning preparations, open water swimming skills, tips for speedy transitions, and overall race day strategy to have you performing your best.
Tuesday April 11th 6:00 – 7:15PM: Kelly Anne Erdman
Performance Nutrition
– Kelly is an Olympian in cycling, and has 30 years of experience as a private Dietitian working with many National Teams. She will lead a discussion around performance nutrition: from nutrition basics, race day nutrition, and some tips for training with a busy lifestyle.
Tuesday April 18th 6:00 – 7:15PM: Dr. Kolin Kriitmaa
Mental Performance
– Kolin is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and holds a Doctorate of Education in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. He takes an interdisciplinary approach to mental performance combining aspects from the physical, technical, tactical, cognitive, and psychological domains – All of which play a huge part in getting to the start line and event day success.
Tuesday April 25th 6:00 – 7:15PM: Gillian Clayton
Strength Training and Injury Prevention
– Gillian is a Ironman Canada Pro Champion and has a Masters in Physical Therapy. She will lead a discussion on strength training and injury prevention – making sure you can make it to the start line healthy and strong.
