All of Triathlon Canada’s existing National Championship agreements end in 2023. As a result, Triathlon Canada is looking for 2-year agreements for all disciplines for 2024/2025.  The preference is for multiple disciplines to be hosted at a single venue.  Ideally, event hosting will shift east/west or west/east in two-year cycles.

Elite National Championships

Olympic Pathway

With 2024 as an Olympic Games year (Paris) Triathlon Canada is looking for a sprint (day 1) and mixed relay (day 2) National Championship inclusive of junior, U23 and elite, with preferred dates prior to September 3rd, allowing the use of the event as a selection event for the junior world championships (likely October).  Please be aware that the blackout dates for our high performance athletes and staff involved in the Games will be approximately July 14th to August 5th.

Paralympic Pathway

Triathlon Canada is hoping to keep Para Triathlon National Championships integrated into the World Para Series event in Montreal for 2024.  However, any National Championship bids that can include para triathlon will be prioritized.  Blackout dates for our high performance athletes and staff involved in the Games will be roughly August 18th to September 5th.

Age Group National Championships

Preference is for two age group National Championship events.  Triathlon and multisport disciplines can be mixed and matched across these events, but preference will be given to host venues that can support a strong package of races.  For example:

Package 1 – Sprint National Championships

  • Sprint triathlon (draft legal)
  • Sprint duathlon (draft legal)
  • Super Sprint Triathlon
  • Mixed Relay
  • Open Para Triathlon (all applicable races)

Package 2 – Standard/Long Distance National Championships

  • Standard Triathlon
  • Standard Aquabike
  • Long distance triathlon
  • Long distance Aquabike
  • Standard Aquathlon
  • Standard Cross Triathlon/Duathlon
  • Open Para Triathlon (all applicable races)

Ideally one of these events would be integrated with elite nationals, but this is not required.  Top priority is ensuring the integrity of racing experience for both our age group and elite athletes.  A stand-alone event, particularly for cross triathlon/cross duathlon, is definitely acceptable so please don’t let that discourage bids.
